. it's supposed to be chaotic. There isn't a cliffhanger, and we are treated to an Epilogue, which was enjoyable. I don't know why no one else has thought of it (that I know of), but Alan Annand is a true pioneer in the field of detective novels. They escape them and with Katie make a family. I know many American readers want more action but as a Brit I do prefer to read even a mystery or thriller that is well written rather than dead bodies on every page. But if you want the truth about the rest of Americans (that is, most Americans) and how every day is a battle against an indifferent, hard-hitting world told in exquisite prose, then read this book.
